Read Across America Day 2020

Read Across America Day, also known as Dr Seuss Day, is a yearly observance in the USA inaugurated by the NEA (National Education Association). On March 2, 2020, Lindbergh Schweitzer Elementary participated in Read Across America Day by creating colorful posters of their classroom's favorite book.

Read Across America Group

We kicked off our morning with some help from family, friends and community volunteers such as the Madison High School students who read and donated "Be The Grapes" by Tami Fitzkoff, Torrey Pines Starbucks representatives Jeremiah Hanson and Shift Manager Cece and our very own San Diego Seals Lacross players Jules Heningburg and Mark Glicini who gave a wonderful Q&A session all about the sport of Lacross! The student-run Q&A raised interesting questions about Lacross. For example, How big is the net and ball?, Is there a goalie? and How often do you practice? The Seals wonderfully answered all of their questions and interacted with the kids which speaks volumes of how impactful their presence was to our students!

The students and staff of Lindbergh Schweitzer would like to thank all our volunteers who dedicated their time to read to our students on Read Across America Day!
